The plans of the god Rylar

The creation of the seven races and kingdoms

The creation of the seven races and kingdoms

Rylar, the sole god who has ruled the universe at will for eons. The creator god of the world and its 6 original races. A god whose, in principle, haphazard and capricious designs have perplexed the greatest sages and left the most brilliant philosophers without argument for centuries. When Rylar created the different races, he put different qualities into them to see which ones were most important to the perfection of creation. He left them free will to observe the interactions that took place between them and soon realized that, in most cases, the contact between the different races ended in dispute. He always thought that the differences between races would be an incentive to collaborate. Offering what one has and receiving what one lacks seemed so logical to that god that he could never expect to act otherwise. How was this possible?

He carefully studied his creation and realized the problem: All races suffered from certain "wrong" behaviors that made them tend to fear what is different and try to eliminate it before seeking collaboration. He realized that these defects (“Seehns” in the language of the gods) were the cause of the lack of brotherhood between the races and it was he, as the creator of everything, who was guilty of leading his creation to eternal war. Worse still, due to the freedom of action that he had granted them, he did not want to communicate with them to try to correct his mistake. He promised not to be involved in their development and did not endow them with the ability to understand the language of the gods. He needed an intermediary agent that would allow him to interact with mortals. This is why he created the Guardians, divine entities capable of translating the sacred language to the different races. Simple "artifacts" endowed with consciousness capable of transmitting their thoughts and expressing them in the basic language of the different races. A Guardian was created for each race in its image and likeness, although the message was the same for all; Unity.

The newly created races were the following:

Humans:

Humans were gifted with enormous curiosity and adaptability. Their short lives drive them to constant change and the need for continuous improvement. Because of this, they also suffer from a notable lack of patience, which sometimes forces them to rush their decisions or give in to their impulses. Humans are skilled at adapting and assimilating technical and magical improvements as they occur to continue their unstoppable advance. The Stormwolves are the result of experimentation on their own race

Orcs:

The orcs had the harshest dawn. Separated into clans from their earliest days, they grew up in an environment of constant warfare among themselves. Their high resistance to damage and endurance capacity meant that tribal conflicts lasted for decades before being resolved. In the end two great clans were the dominant ones and took opposite paths. The Salanaar, who stayed true to their orc roots, and the Nestah, who adopted many of the customs and technologies of their neighbors the dwarves and the human race.

Elves:

Fragile in appearance but with enormous power within them, elves excel in their ability to harness arcane powers. In a constant quest for knowledge, it was the elves who first unraveled the secrets of the guardians and ultimately devised the spells that brought Ganosh, the last Guardian, to life. In case of conflict they will look for a diplomatic solution but in the worst of chaos they are good fighters and with unparalleled mental strength, they are capable of anything using force or magic indistinctly.

Dwarves:

The dwarves are masters of construction and engineering. Their skill and talent is unparalleled within the other kingdoms and their services are often hired by them, especially by the giants with whom they have been linked by a special alliance for many years. The dwarves are divided into several castes, the miners (Nahir) and the engineers (Nokkar) The dwarves live mainly from trade since their artifacts and the minerals they extract are highly valued and have made them probably the richest and most prosperous of all.

Astarii:

The Astarii were created with a distinct trait of nobility. Unlike humans, his potential lies in his enormous patience to perfect the ancestral arts of his people until he reaches excellence in each of the different facets of his life. Their philosophy, customs, weapons and magic have not changed over the years in essence but have been perfected to the point of being an art. Despite their formidable and rough appearance, the movements of an Astarii are precise to the millimeter and their iron determination means that they are always the last to leave the battle.

Giants:

The giants were the first race to be created. Titanic and imposing, their strength was incredibly great as well as their enormous size. However, its large size also truncated its development. The lack of skill and control of their large bodies limited them to crude technology and, over time, they ended up moving away from the rest of the kingdoms and living in primitive societies. But after the great battle of Kelem-Zufar, where a regiment of giants appeared to defend the capital of the dwarves from certain death, an alliance was established between the two kingdoms and the dwarves became the hands of the giants and the giants their protectors.

The Golden Age

And so began a new era. Individualisms abandoned, progress began in all disciplines thanks to the reconciling character of the Guardians. The arts and sciences flourished and life expectancy increased thanks to the development of medicine. The Guardians were considered gods for having brought prosperity and peace to a land that only knew war. Cults of worship and study of the Guardians were created to understand what those wonderful beings were who had done so much good and ultimately understand the designs of the god Rylar.

Over time these cults evolved into two branches; the sacred one, who worshiped their respective Guardian as an almighty god (Prelates), and the scientific one, who studied the secrets and powers of the guardians (Magicians). Little by little the magicians were unraveling the bases of the language of the gods and an inexhaustible source of power was opened to the mortals. In a way, this was sacrilege, since they were deciphering the language Rylar had wanted to hide from them. For Rylar, this was the culmination of his experiment. Like a son beginning to utter his first words, Rylar was torn between pride and admiration at the progress of his creation and outrage at the audacity of daring to unravel the mysteries of the divine language. However, he liked that they worship the Guardians as gods and ignore their existence, that way he could influence them by staying in the shadows without intervening directly

The birth of the seventh race

That world divided into 6 kingdoms politically, but all of them multiracial now, did not stop growing, and just like a son who has reached adulthood, they were ready to take the next step; they would create their own offspring, their own legacy. They would create a new race and become gods themselves. Thus the Feranthal were created.

In reality, this creation responded to a much less megalomaniacal purpose than it might seem. A Feral was neither more nor less than a mixture between a sentient being and an animal, considered inferior in evolutionary terms to the original six races. Many wizards had practiced these magical hybridizations in the past to save babies born with health problems. A young deer magically hybridized with a weak-hearted neonate could produce a perfectly healthy specimen with a normal life expectancy. Over time, one in 10 inhabitants of the world was a Feranthal, who were often marginalized because of their animal ancestry.

An uncertain future

The years passed and inevitably the Feranthal yearned for their own kingdom. They were already one more race of that world and they could have their own lands and cities, but they lacked something, they did not have a Guardian. The council of the 6 kingdoms debated this matter for years until in the end there was consensus for the recognition of the last kingdom. The most influential prelates and the most powerful magicians gathered on the plains of Aesuria for 3 days and 3 nights to emerge with the seventh Guardian of the world, Ganosh, using the magic fruit of the revelation of the secrets of the divine language that they had deciphered to over the years.

Ganosh was the strongest guardian, as he had been created with that intention, to surpass the previous Guardians in everything. Very powerful magic had been employed in its creation even surpassing the limits of the power that mortals could control at the time. To Rylar this was proof that the experiment was over, the mortals had passed the test and had become a prosperous and civilized society. There was no more work to do. Although, on the other hand, he did not forget that, without his intervention, those little defects in the character of mortals, those "sins" as they called them, would have prevented them from reaching the point where they were now. And in an infinitesimal fraction of a second the divine designs changed radically.
