NESTAH

NESTAH

The Call of the Iron

The Nestah are the most common orc type. The ties that the Salanaar way of life has with its Guardian greatly limits their ability to expand and reduces them to inhabit the interior of their territory. To the Nestah, the Salanaar are considered "captives" in their prison of magic.

The orcs outside, far from the power source of the Guardian, soon found their way of life altered without the comforts of magic and had to relay on their strength to survive. They managed to conquer numerous territories in the borderlands at first, which led to rapid expansion, but after some time, they realized that their ability to endure was very limited without magic, so the expansion was short-lived and ended. This lead into some forced peace treaties and with a large number of orcs looking for a life beyond the borders of their kingdom. These migrating orcs were called “Nestah” or “pioneers”.

Many orcs worked for elves and humans as cheap labor, sometimes doing jobs reserved only for beasts. Perhaps for this reason the orcs began to be considered as simple and brute beings outside their borders, although this did not correspond to reality. The orcs plowed the fields, moved heavy loads, worked in the forges and smithies, and even participated in the construction of cities. But above all, they learned. Since their culture and traditions were meaningless away from Raastag, their Guardian, they adopted the customs of the place where they were, causing the Nestah little by little to acquire innumerable appearances, as many as places they were able to discover.

Two hundred years after the Day of Sin, more orcs lived outside than within the borders of their original territory, where virtually all were Salanaar. Thus, when the Elves invaded the territory of the orcs, they met less resistance than expected to reach the heart of the kingdom. Of course, the siege of the capital was not easy at all. The orcs, although they were in the minority, could use magic to its full potential and despite the onslaughts of the elves, they managed to resist for months with hardly any heavy casualties.

With the situation deadlocked, the elven chancellor hatched a plan to isolate the Salanaar from their source of magic. He brought together the elven archmages and they were joined by sorcerers of the human Arcane Circle and, cruxically, a small group of Feranthal arcanists with a direct link to the mighty Ganosh. Together they managed to strangle the magical power through a ritual that, as long as it was maintained, cut off access to magic to everyone within a 20 km radius. The Salanaar began to fall. Without magic they were still stronger than humans and elves, but their inferior numbers and more rudimentary technology tipped the balance to the invading side.

Once the city walls came down, it all happened pretty fast. The remaining Salanaar gathered at the Temple of Raastag to defend it with their lives, since capturing it was always the goal of the elves.

On the morning of the twelfth day, the elves bombarded the temple with catapults for a little over half an hour before the final assault. One of the shells struck the dome of the Temple of Raastag, causing a section of the roof to collapse, plunging the interior into a chaos of dust and debris. From the ground and stunned by the impact of the rubble, the high priest could see how some imposing and fully armored silhouettes entered the temple. He hadn't known that the Stormwolves had joined the elf camp, but if they had, all was lost. Closing her eyes, she dropped to her knees, standing between the raiders and the altar of Raastag the Warden.

- What have you come to do here?

- We have come to save your god, priest- The largest of the soldiers answered in the language of the orcs with a peculiar accent that the priest could not identify.

The Nestah had come home at just the right time.
